Service Status older than two weeks:
February 21, 2008 - Usermail.com (only that domain) SMTP and some other services were responding intermittently between 9:42am and 9:58am PST. This was caused by an attack on the My Account interface. We isolated and blocked the attacker and service returned to normal by 9:58am PST.
January 25, 2008 - Some domains refused incoming messages during the period from 10:15pm PST Jan 24 and 12:45am PST Jan 25. The problem has been corrected and no further errors detected.
January 4, 2008 - POP3 access to usermail.com is not working properly. IMAP and Webmail are available. We are working on restoring POP3 as soon as possible. UPDATE: POP3 is restored as of 6:05am PST.
December 31, 2007 - Spam filtering on email.usermail.net was intermittent earlier this morning, but is operating properly as of 5:45am PST. A higher amount of spam than normal was allowed through overnight as a result.
November 29, 2007 - Local mail delivery for usermail.net was delayed earlier this morning, but is completely caught up prior to 7:00am PST. A higher amount of spam than normal was allowed through this morning due to the backed up delivery.
November 26, 2007 - Local mail delivery for usermail.net is delayed. Outgoing mail is being delivered properly. We are working on this problem and expect to have mail delivery restored shortly. UPDATE: Local delivery is flowing properly. All mail that had been delayed is being delivered. UPDATE: The local mail delivery is completely caught up and mail flowing normally again.
November 18, 2007 - Preventative maintenance on email.usermail.net required a brief stop of POP, IMAP, and SMTP email services from 3:03pm to 3:06pm PST. Note that this maintenance had no impact on usermail.com accounts.
October 30, 2007 - Preventative maintenance on email.usermail.net has been completed on schedule. Actual down time was October 30, 2007 12:07am to 12:19am PDT (12 minutes), with webmail down again from 12:23am to 12:25am PDT (2 minutes). Note that this maintenance had no impact on usermail.com accounts.
October 28, 2007 - Preventative maintenance is scheduled on the email.usermail.net server
(MX name businessplan.usermail.net) to be performed between
11pm PDT October 29 and
1am PDT October 30. Actual down time is expected to be roughly a half hour. Please watch this page or our
main status page for any updates.
October 26, 2007 - Please see our main status page for information regarding network problems this morning.
October 25, 2007 - Usermail.net webmail and IMAP were failing to connect. This was corrected as of 10:40am PDT.
October 21, 2007 - Usermail.net webmail was slow through the main (blue) interface, and unresponsive through the standard Squirrelmail interface this morning. The problem was resolved at roughly 8:30am PDT. There was no impact to email program access (IMAP/POP/SMTP).
October 18, 2007 - High server load for customers using usermail.net webmail or email.usermail.net IMAP is causing time outs and delays. We are working on improvements to restore proper performance. There may be brief periods when the system is unavailable (about 5 minutes) as we make updates. UPDATE (4:30pm PDT): the reboot was not successful, causing the usermail.net server to be down for much of the afternoon. The server is back up, but backlogged so it will be slow to access, especially via webmail. We are finishing implementing the performance improvements, but the server will likely be slow until later this evening.
October 15, 2007 - Spam processing slowdowns have been delaying outside mail delivery to @usermail.com accounts by roughly 30 minutes since 5pm PDT. UPDATE: Spam processing is caught up and running at full speed as of 7:40pm PDT
October 1, 2007 - Webmail for usermail.com accounts (only) was not responding properly this morning. This has been fixed as of 9:00AM PDT, and changes implemented so this problem does not occur again.
September 5, 2007 - Usermail.net webmail access was intermittent this morning, and new logins led to a blank screen.
The problem was corrected at 7:13am PDT.
This did not affect email program access using POP, IMAP, and SMTP, and did not affect accounts "@usermail.com."
September 24, 2007 - 11:30am PDT - We are repairing a problem on email.usermail.net. All server functions are back online exceptsecure webmail. Webmail may be accessed without encryption via http://ssl.usermail.net/ and we are working on restoring encryption for secure access via webmail as soon as possible. Update 2:00pm PDT - Secure webmail is operating properly. Update 4:00pm PDT - intermittent sending problems have been reported and resolved. All services are operating normally.
September 24, 2007 - Servers for accounts accessing through email.usermail.net became unresponsive to POP/IMAP/SMTP
access this morning, corrected by 8:55 AM PDT.
September 23, 2007 - Accounts accessing through email.usermail.net and webmail.usermail.net have been upgraded
to improve spam and virus filtering performance.
The upgrade was tested and then implemented at 10:04 AM PDT, with servers not responding for only about 30 seconds.
Incoming mail was held on our server for roughly 15 minutes and then delivery continued normally by 10:18 AM PDT.
August 6, 2007 - 7:52am PDT to 8:13am PDT - Usermail.com web and webmail, and Business plan webmail and email client access was interrupted due to an internal network problem. We've reconfigured to eliminate the problem. Webmail users may need to log out and back in to restore their sessions.
August 2, 2007 - 12:58pm PDT - Usermail.com webmail access has been restored.
August 2, 2007 - 12:42pm PDT - Usermail.com webmail access is unavailable. We are working on restoring this access. POP, IMAP, and SMTP access are still available. Business plan hosting (domains other than usermail.com) was not affected.
July 19, 2007 - Usermail.net webmail access was unavailable earlier this morning. The problem was corrected by 7:30am PDT. Some users were able to reach webmail, or continue using existing connections, but almost all new connections received an error. This did not affect accounts "@usermail.com"
June 9, 2007 - The spam filtering update was completed successfully.
June 8, 2007 - An update to the spam filtering will take place for the @usermail.com accounts this weekend. No change is required by our customers, and no impact to mail service is expected. We will update when complete.
June 7, 2007 - Some users (primarily Macintosh browsers) are receiving certificate warnings. We are temporarily redirecting webmail.usermail.com to https://imap.usermail.com for secure access. We will correct this back to retain https://webmail.usermail.com with a certificate reconized by Macintosh browsers by the end of next week. You may use https://webmail.usermail.com, but will need to accept the name mismatch until late next week.
June 6, 2007 - Service was restored at roughly 11:30, and we saw no further packet loss on the network by 12:30pm PDT. A more detailed report is available upon request.
June 6, 2007 - Our network provider is under a denial of service attack, resulting in slow or no network connectivity for all customers. This results in extremely slow or no ability for our customers to connect to our email or web services. The network provider is working diligently to mitigate the attack and restore service.
June 4, 2007 - We have completed restoring the new webmail appearance for business accounts as of 11:30pm PDT/06:30 GMT June 5 (no change for accounts @usermail.com). The default login will be the new interface (same as you had prior to the move), but if you prefer the standard SquirrelMail interface that will continue to be available. See the alternate links on the login screen to change between interfaces.
June 1, 2007 - The accounts "@usermail.com" have been relocated to our new facility. If you are having difficulty, please restart your computer to assure you have the latest address. The correct host name for both sending and receiving with usermail.com accounts is "secure.usermail.com". This only applies to addresses ending "@usermail.com". If we are providing email for your domain, please see our notice regarding business accounts, below. Also please see the note below regarding use of our numerical address.
May 28, 2007 - Business accounts (email service provided under your domain) have been relocated to our new facility. Accounts which have been set up with our recommended host names will not require any change. If you are having difficulty, please:
- Make sure your MX record is "businessplan.usermail.net." (no quotes) and remove any other MX records
- Confirm your email program is using "email.usermail.net" for incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP (note this does not apply to accounts @usermail.com, these accounts are covered by the June 1 update above)
- Restart your computer to assure you have the latest address
- If you are using our numerical address for any reason, it should change from 216.150.205.X to 209.177.145.X where "X" is the same last number for both old and new addresses (if possible you should use email.usermail.net for your email programs and other devices for business accounts under your own domain, or secure.usermail.com for accounts @usermail.com).
April 21, 2007 - Updated webmail.usermail.com secure certificate. Mac users will no longer receive warnings regarding an unknown certificate authority.
